The Department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management (BISOM) offers undergraduate majors and minors in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Operations and Supply Chain Management (OPER). BISOM faculty teach courses for the MBA, concentrations in business analytics, information and technology management, and supply chain management and serve as dissertation advisors for students in the inter-disciplinary Ph.D. in Computing and Information Systems – Business Track.
Department Distinctions
Our faculty published in major journals including Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems and Decision Sciences. BISOM faculty also serve on editorial boards of several prestigious journals.
Members of the department are very active in national, international, and regional professional organizations, including the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, Decision Sciences Institute, Association for Information Systems, Production and Operations Management Society, and International Conference on Operations Research and Enterprise Systems.
A number of our faculty have been recognized for their outstanding work in teaching, research and service, receiving the Belk College Outstanding Teaching Award, the Gray's M.B.A. Teaching Award, the Belk College Distinguished Scholarship Award, the Best paper Award, and the Outstanding Service Award.
