PhD Program Overview

The Business Track in the PhD in Computing and Information Systems  program is housed in the department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management in the Belk College of Business.

Organizations are increasingly dependent on IT, and IT investments constitute a major portion of many organizations' capital budgets. It is increasingly recognized that IT is a valuable business resource that needs to be managed effectively in order to produce business benefits such as improved profits or improved customer service. This track focuses on key issues relating to the design of effective business systems as well as the effective management of an organization's IT resources.

Program requirements include a combination of coursework and research.

The program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in academia or industry.
